About

My adventure with gliding began in 1987. Since then I have logged nearly 14 000 flights. First on classic sailplanes, then since 2016 on touring motorgliders all together I have been instructing for over a quarter of a century. More recently, in 2022, I was granted a rating of a flight instructor’s coach (FI/FI) and in 2023 was authorized by the Head of Polish Flight Crew Licencing Committee as a practical examiner. My flight time as an instructor is over 2000 hours, out of which about a quarter was flown abroad. In 2019, when instructing in the United Kingdom I was certified by British Gliding Association as a Full Category Instructor.

In 2021 I set up a Declared Training Organization.

As in every establishment of this kind, training is provided by qualified instructors. What differs my DTO in this respect is the fact that supporting me instr. Maciej Oleksiewicz and myself, and there are only two of us, have accumulated more sailplane instructing stick time than all instructors combined in more than one and not necessarily small-scale gliding club in Poland.

Also unlike in many gliding clubs in this part of the world, in an effort to optimize the time trainees spend at the airfield, flexible schedules are offered at any level of training, which is believed to be particularly appreciated by those for whom time is a scarce resource. Conveniently, the training is currently conducted in close vicinity of Warsaw - on a small airfield in Milewo, near Płońsk, Mazowieckie.

I am looking forward to flying with you and to sending you up solo soon after.

Practical Training

Please be advised that a training permit issued by the President of the CAA is required if the candidate does not have Polish citizenship or is not a citizen of one of the EU countries, the Swiss Confederation or the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) - parties to the EEA Agreement. For more information click here. The second part of the file is in English.

It is candidate's responsibility to collect all the required documents and deliver them to the training organization where the traning is to take place. Then on the candidate's behalf the organization submits the application to the CAA.

On top of that, if your intention is to obtain a Sailplane Pilot Licence, practical training must be preceded by theoretical training. See theoretical training section to find out more.

Without a theoretical training completion certificate, we may fly as well, even to the point of acquiring all the skills needed for going solo, but the flights will not count as a course, you will never be credited for them and will not be allowed to go solo until you have completed a proper course.

If you already are an SPL holder and would like to extend your privileges, I am happy to help you in both prcatical as well as theoretical training.

Theoretical Training

We provide theoretical training for TMG, aerobatics, aerotow and selflaunching, but not a full theoretical course towards SPL regardless of launching method.

Theoretical training towards SPL is long, boring and largely, though not entirely, irrelevant. But it is also obligatory. If you think you are lucky because you manage to find a school which will let you only scratch the surface, you will be disappointed to find out that there is a set of theoretical exams you will have to pass, so learning is unavoidable.

The good thing is that you can do it in any EASA country, or, to be more specific, in any organization supervised by CAA of EASA member state. For a course in Polish I recommend avioner.pl, but as it has just been mentioned, you can do it in any EASA recognized organization in any language. In case you are considering taking theotetical exams in Poland, it may be in your interest to know that they are offered in two languages only - Polish and English.

Unfortunately it is not the only obstacle. If you do not hold Polish citizenship and apply for a licence in Poland, you will be required by Polish licencing institution to submit a certificate of proficiency in aviation language, ICAO level 4 or higher, in Polish or in English. It also applies to native speakers of English.

To find out where and when you can sit a language proficiency exam, call Polish CAA (Urząd Lotnictwa Cywilnego) at 22 520 7443.

The ICAO’s language proficiency certificate is also a proof that the candidate possesses sufficient language skills to receive instruction in this language, so you will need it before practical training begins.
